Entre el 06 y 17 de febrero 2019 recibimos en los talleres del MAM a la artista suiza Julie Magnenat (Suiza, 1992).
En este año visité Chiloé y puedo prever ya una caminata y experiencia de reunión muy productiva y fructificante, considerando que este es un reino muy inspirador y poderoso con el que puedo relacionar totalmente mi experiencia como artista suiza, donde el paisaje ha sido una influencia constante y fuente de reflexión permanente en mi obra. LA ARTISTA SOBRE SU PROYECTO / Mi investigación artística se centra en parte en la exploración de determinados espacios específicos como si fueran un territorio para una práctica artística. Mi propuesta consiste en una inmersión en aspectos del paisaje de Chiloé para investigar, explorar y producir trabajos que reflejen y opera en este contexto. Propongo ejecutar un estudio de exploración basado en las disciplinas de performance, pintura, instalación y escultura para luego externalizarlo en un contexto publico.
Una de mis preocupaciones sobre la isla de Chiloé es la relación que los habitantes tienen con el Proyecto Puente Chacao. Hay algunas cosas que me gustaría investigar primero y luego poder transformar en una forma artística. Me gustaría explorar el paisaje y lo posibles cambios que el puente podría aportar. Quiero coleccionar diferentes fantasías que la gente tiene con este proyecto y lo que representa para ellos… ¿Es un símbolo de la modernidad?
¿Es la modernidad atractiva para la gente de Chiloé?. Así formaré mi propio punto de vista en una manera artística. Quiero afrontar este proyecto de modernidad con el paisaje natural, lo antiguo y las tradiciones de Chiloé, como su mitología y sus antiguas técnicas de construcción. Los principales elementos y prácticas que propongo para esta investigación in situ contemplan el caminar, observar, fotografiar, filmar, construir y crear directamente. En este sentido, el resultado de esta investigación combina mi experiencia crítica como artista / exploradora en el contexto natural y social de Chiloé.
(English) My artistic research focuses partly on the exploration of determined specific spaces as if they were a territory for an artistic practice. My proposal consists in an immersion in aspects of the Chiloé landscape to research, explore and produce work which reflects and operates in this context. I propose to execute studio based exploration linked to the disciplines of performance, painting, installation and sculpture to then externalise it in a public context.
One of my concern about Chiloé’s island is the relationship the inhabitants have with the Puente Chacao project. There’s a few thing I would like first to investigate and then transform in an artistic form. I would like to explore the landscape and the possible changes that the bridge could bring to it. I want to collect different fantasies that the people have with this project and what it represents for them. Is it a symbol of modernity ? Is modernity appealing for people of Chiloé ? I will then form my own point of view in an artistic way. I want to confront this modernity project with the natural landscape, the old traditions of Chiloé, like its mythology and its ancient techniques of building. The main elements and practices I propose for this in situ research contemplate practices as walking, observing, photographing, filming and directly building and creating. In this sense, the result of this research is one that combines my critical experience as artist/explorer in the natural and social context of Chiloé.
In this year, I visited Chiloé and I can foresee a very productive and fructifying walking and meeting experience, considering this was a very inspiring and powerful realm to which I can totally relate to my experience as a swiss artist, where landscape has been a consistent influence and source of artistic reflection in my body of work.
